The church is a Gothic three-aisled church with a heavy brick tower. The tower has a brick spire, which is very rare. For this reason preservation with as much original material as possible was necessary. The damaged masonry has been restored to a homogeneous entity by means of an injection process. The tower features large bricks with greenish glazed heads worked in a pattern. During the restoration the eroded heads were replaced by copies with a suitable glazing. The restoration of the church involved principally the repair of the roof. During this work a highly decorative 19th-century painting was discovered under the plain 20th-century layer. It turned out to be relatively easy to remove the later paint and to retouch the 19th-century paintwork. The sunflowers and greenery motifs are now visible again.
