COMPANY :: HISTORY

The firm was founded by Arend Rothuizen. In 1942 – during the reconstruction of Middelburg – the firm merged with that of the architect Piet ’t Hooft from Goes. Following a merger in the nineties, Rothuizen van Doorn ’t Hooft came into being. As customers from outside the province of Zeeland began to call ever more frequently on the services of the architects and urban developers, a branch was established in Breda in 1997.

A fourth branch was added in 2000. The former architectural firm Gruisen Sanderse from Terneuzen was taken over. Rothuizen van Doorn ’t Hooft has consequently grown into one of the largest architectural and urban development firms in the South West of the Netherlands.

At this moment RDH has two offices: one in the city of Middelburg and one in the city of Breda. In Middelburg the office is established in The Stadsschuur 2, a historical building renovated by RDH itself. In Breda the office is established in The Lunet B, a national monument consilidated by RDH itself. By positioning a glass cube over the ruin a unique and inspiring environment is created.
