The Zeeland property development company Projectbouwmij Fraanje and the housing corporation Zeeuwland have commissioned a design for a new housing project in the Malta residential area in Zierikzee.
The project includes 1 detached private home and 27 apartments for rent of 50, 75 or 100 m2, for retired persons and first time buyers.
The Scandinavian influences in the design refer to the wooden houses that were donated by Norway and built in this area following the disastrous floods of 1953. For example, the facades are covered in Swedish panelling and the balconies and galleries are finished in varnished wood.
The parking spaces are housed in a courtyard under a sedum carport.
