ARCHITECTURE :: HEALTHCARE
Care Centre
Location:
Hoeven
Year:
2007
An assisted living centre has been built on the southern edge of Hoeven as part of a new development scheme. The residential programme is divided into five slightly curved sections of alternately three and four floors, each with its own entrance, with galleries on the north side and accommodation on the south side. The ground floor forms a plinth that includes apartments, group accommodation and health care facilities. The care programme connects the residential sections on the ground floor and includes, beneath the raised central section, the main entrance, the restaurant, the internet café and the recreational area. The residential sections are segmented on the south side on the upper floors: the areas of brickwork used for the outside walls of the living rooms are separated by balconies and recessed bedrooms. The brickwork is either white, sandy coloured or dark brown and is angled slightly outwards, both to provide a view of the courtyard garden and to create a visual relationship with the open field on the west side.
