The orientation and irregular form of the plot of land strongly influenced the basic concept for a villa on the edge of the woods in Teteringen. The building was sited in the extreme north-easterly corner of the plot, permitting optimal exploitation of the sunny southern aspect for the garden. A robust, unbroken wall on the northern and eastern sides serves as the backbone for a standard arrangement for a villa of this size. The round, white tower is the house’s pivot, housing the entrance and stairs. The wooden structures house the kitchen and bathroom, guest rooms and offices/studies. The primary living areas such as the sitting room and main bedroom result from the positioning of these three blocks. All rooms on the ground floor run into each other. A continuous glass frontage serves to unite the separate entities and create a composite whole.
