Veersche Poort B

Location:

Middelburg

Year:

2000-2001

The court consists of various types of dwelling which are built around a central square. The surrounding structures consist of two floors. The square has acquired an urban character due to the pavement and the lighting and remains a pedestrian zone. The privacy of the court is accentuated by the overhanging roof edge running all round, which also continues above the entrance to the square.

The square and the development have been raised in relation to the surroundings, thus securing the privacy of the gardens situated at the outer side of the court and equally emphasising the independent character of the court. An underground car park is situated underneath the square from where the dwellings can be directly accessed with the stairs and the lift.
