The Peelland College offers its secondary-education students task-directed education in four subject groups. For the development of the new buildings this led to two principal basic concepts. First, within the total floor space available more flexible study areas have been created, while the number of classrooms has remained the same. Second, the small-scale clusters in the education system have been expressed in the architecture. The building is attractive, but also stimulates task-directed schooling.
The aspect from the road is dominated by an 85-metre long teaching wing that is 25 metres deep. This teaching wing features a 9-metre-wide corridor with classrooms on the one side (for the lower forms) and free study areas on the other (for the upper forms). Toilets, storage space, work spaces and instruction corners are located in the corridor.
