The new Munnikenheide College building has been designed to accommodate about 1100 preparatory secondary vocational education (‘vmbo’) students from Etten-Leur and the surrounding area. The primary curved form of the building has been divided into two parts – an inner ring and an outer ring. The inner ring houses teaching areas, self-study areas and support functions. The outer ring houses practical rooms for Technology, Health and Personal Care and Welfare, and Economy. A walkway running between the two rings leads students, teachers and visitors through the building and connects the various functions. Large windows display the college’s activities for the outside world. The various elements are integrated under a standing seam roof, providing the college with a strong identity.
