A merger in the higher education system, led in the province of Zeeland to the formation of the Hogeschool Zeeland offering six different kinds of education to 3,000 students. RDH has been involved in the planning and the realisation of the Hogeschool since 1989. The Hogeschool Zeeland wanted a flexible building that would be easy to adapt to changes in education or the number of students. All rooms had to catch enough natural light and be within reasonable walking distance from one another. Many departments preferred to teach smaller groups of students. Another important demand was that the identity of each kind of education would remain identifiable.
